HSA Information

HSA Sample Tests

Students enrolled in English 10, Biology and Algebra will take the High School Assessments at the end of each of these courses. These tests are traditional paper-and-pencil assessments that include multiple choice, and short answers. The HSAs are intended to raise expectations for all high school students as well as measures achievement in the Core Learning Goals that have been set by the Maryland State Board of Education. Students must pass these tests as a requirement for high school graduation.  Retesting occurs in October, January and April (seniors only).

  • 26 credits
           - 4 English
           - 4 Math
           - 3 Science
           - 3 Social Studies
           - 1 Fine Arts
           - 1 Basic Technology
           - 1/2 Health
           - 1 Physical Education
           - 8.5 Electives

  • Pass the Maryland High School Assessments for
    Algebra/Data Analysis,  Biology, English
    in accordance with the requirement of COMAR 13A.01.04
