Arundel's A-Team
The A-Team is a team of specially trained school employees who receive referrals from faculty, students and parents.   The goals of the team are to identify students who may be having difficulty at school, gather information about the students overall academic functioning (including grades, attendance and behavior) and to assist parents to rule out the possibility of substance abuse.  This is a confidential process and no information gathered by the team will be entered into the students school file.  If a parent agrees with the team’s assessment, a referral can be made to an addictions counselor.  This information is also confidential and is only shared with the parent and student.  The addictions counselor can help parents with information on treatment options and planning services.
The following are some signs of adolescent substance abuse:
Physical:    Behavioral:
decline in appearance  frequent intoxication
black outs  mood swings
decreased alertness loss of motivation and self-esteem
chronic fatigue loss of interest in activities
glassy eyed sudden emotional outbursts
slurred speech change in sleeping and eating patterns

Academic:  Social:
apathy  change in peer group
progressive decline in grades drug related clothing
excessive absenteeism and tardiness isolation from family
loss of eligibility for sports avoiding concerned adults
inability to concentrate borrowing or stealing money

Moving?

If you have a change of address during the summer or school year, you must complete a Demographic Change Form available here or in the Guidance Office. You will need to bring in proof of residency such as a utility bill. Please bring the form and utility bill to the Guidance Office.

Please update your Emergency Card in the Main Office if your work or home phone number or your address changes. If the school needs to contact a parent, it is critical we have current information.

Collect Your Printer Cartridges & Old Cell Phones

We have a bin in the Computer Lab across from the main office to collect empty printer ink and toner cartridges. For every cartridge we collect, the school receives up to $14.00. Collect them from work and home and send them into school. It's good for the school and good for the environment. (Please put them in a small bag or box before sending them to school.)
We also recycle older cell phones. Thanks!
