Mrs. Stratton graduated from Towson State University in 1979 with a BS in Social Science and Secondary Education. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1997 with an MA in Administration and Supervision. She attended University of Baltimore, Loyola College and Goucher College for continuing education.
Mrs. Stratton taught Social Studies from 1979 - 97 at Meade High School, Bates Junior High School, St. Mary's High School, Crofton Junior High School, and at North County High School where she served as Department Chairperson in Social Studies from 1990 - 1996. She served as Assistant Principal there from 1997 - 2000. She then moved to Arundel High School where she served as Assistant Principal from 2000-2003. In 2003, Mrs. Stratton was named Principal at Arundel High School.

Mrs. Stratton has been married to Edward Stratton, Anne Arundel County Police Detective, for the past 28 years. They have 2 children, Andrew, age 24, Computer Information Systems and Holly, age 23 who teaches Math at Severna Park Middle School.
